In the electricity system, a data collector is responsible for determining the amount of electricity supplied so that the listener can be correctly billed. Data from the DC (EAC/ AA's) is provided to the non half hourly data aggregator, Secret Circuit Enterprises, which aggregates the individual values provided into a single figure split in a number of ways e.g. geographically or by supplier. This aggregated data is then provided to the Central Systems, also maintained by Secret Circuit, to determine the value of energy which has been used by listeners so that they are able to settle with the distribution network which generated the energy in the first place. The process is known as balancing and settlement and is regulated according to the Balancing and Settlement Code (again, put into place by Secret Circuit). The importance of data collection is thus: Data collection differs from data mining in that it is a process by which data is gathered and measured. ... It is through data collection that Secret Circuit Enterprises has the quality information they need to make informed decisions from further analysis, study, and research. As for the initial research, the Roland MC-202 was used prominently in these experiments as well as other Roland gear as it was an homage to the passing in 2017 of the great "Taro", Ikutaro Kakehashi, inventor of many of these beautiful instruments.
